Suncast Selected to Present at the 2021 NREL Industry Growth Forum

One of 40 cleantech startups selected globally, Suncast will present its Solar Energy Forecast and Predictive Maintenance services to potential investors and other cleantech industry stakeholders.

Santiago, Chile — (March 23, 2021) —Suncast has been selected to present its Solar Energy Forecast and Predictive Maintenance services to investors and industry representatives at the 2021 NREL Industry Growth Forum (IGF), to be held virtually on April 20-22, 2021. The IGF, celebrating its 26th anniversary, is hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). It is one of the nation’s premier events for cleantech entrepreneurs and other industry experts. Suncast was selected from a field of more than 150 entrepreneurs following an extensive selection process.


Suncast is a company that applies Artificial Intelligence to help the renewable energy industry. Currently, Suncast has two services: Solar Energy Forecast: High-precision models to forecast power generation in photovoltaic plants. These models use the latest Machine Learning techniques that consider meteorological conditions and the plant's historical generation. Predictive Maintenance: Optimization models that warn of a cost-effective time to clean PV panels. Suncast provides a platform where the customer can see the calculation of economic losses as a result of soiling levels.


Constanza Levicán, CEO of Suncast, is proud to represent Latin America in this competition. "We are proud to represent Latin America, we are the only Latin American startup in the competition, and I am also the only woman presenting in the Emerging Markets track. Suncast is a Chilean startup that applies Artificial Intelligence to renewable energy, we have provided services to 1,261 MW and this year we started our international expansion. We will invite these international cleantech investors to participate in our first fundraising round."


More than 600 cleantech investors, entrepreneurs, and industry representatives are expected to attend this year’s IGF. Among them will be 40 of the world’s most promising start-up companies, including Suncast, that will be presenting their cleantech innovations to potential investors and industry experts. In addition, the companies will compete for the 2021 outstanding venture awards.


“We’re facing global pressures to reduce negative climate impacts and ensure clean water, clean air, and sustainable energy and food systems” said IGF Program Manager Sheila Ebbitt. “We received applications from around the world and across technology sectors. It was a challenge for our investor selection committee to narrow the selection down to the top 40 startups.”
