At the 5th Technical Seminar, the company gathered specialists from the electricity sector to discuss the changes imposed by the new CNE regulations.

At a key moment in the evolution of the Sistema Eléctrico Nacional, Suncast organised the 5th session of its Technical Seminars, focusing on the new regulatory requirements for variable renewable energy generation forecasts. The event was held at Zegers Abogados' offices in Vitacura, and it involved the participation of professionals from the operation, maintenance, and regulation of the NCRE sector.

The gathering tackled the practical implications of the recent Chapter of Operation Programming of the Technical Standard for Coordination and Operation published by the National Energy Commission in March of this year. This new regulatory framework requires forecasts to be submitted more frequently, including scheduled outages and new performance indicators, all of which represent an important challenge for the country’s solar and wind power plants.

Javier Urbina, Head of the Department of Forecasting of the Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional, explained the reasons behind the modifications and the standards that must be complied with. Afterwards, Pedro Correa, Suncast’s Chief of Technology, discussed the relevance of automation in order to provide an efficient and sustainable response to the new regulations.

After the event, Suncast’s Founder and CEO, Constanza Levicán, stated: “Regulatory adaptation is an important step for integrating more renewable energies, making concrete progress towards the energy transition of our matrix. The stakeholders of the sector need technological solutions that provide accurate forecasts with automated delivery - considering the number of files required - to comply with the standard which will come into effect.”

With this activity, Suncast reinforced its commitment to regulatory and technical innovation of the Chilean electrical system, promoting opportunities for exchange that allow the industry to actively prepare for structural changes imposed by the energy transition
