Suncast, the leading company in technology for renewable energy forecasting, completed a series of training sessions targeted towards 10 of its main clients regarding the launch of functionality: the Unavailability Register.
This innovative development, which is a part of the energy forecasting tool, improves the accuracy of the forecasts by including internal and external unavailability events in solar and wind parks.
From September to October, Suncast carried out 11 online training sessions for their client companies. The training sessions provided a total of 38 participants with a detailed introduction to Suncast’s platform, with special emphasis on its use and the importance of the new unavailability register.
The companies were represented by a variety of professionals including operations and maintenance supervisors, management engineers, leading photovoltaic power plant technicians, control center operators, project managers, and operations managers, among others.
The Unavailability Register is a new functionality developed by Suncast which is intended to adapt to both solar and wind power plants. Pedro Correa, Suncast’s CTO, emphasized the importance of this tool:
“Transmitting Suncast’s forecasting models what is happening on-site, specifically the unavailability events of the parks, allows the model to estimate the energy forecast more accurately, preventing production from being underestimated or overestimated.”
Access to this tool allows clients to register the unavailability affecting their power plants in real time, which optimizes the energy forecasts that Suncast sends to the Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional (CEN). By having accurate energy forecasts, more operational planning of the National Electric System is achieved.
For Suncast’s clients, this functionality is crucial because they can base their schedule of operation and maintenance activities on these energy forecasts. The tool, by including the power plant’s unavailability events, provides a significant value to forecasting performance, assuring critical accuracy for the park’s operator and the CEN’s activities.
Suncast continues to consolidate itself as a strategic technology ally in the industry, providing solutions that optimize operational efficiency and reinforce the profitability and sustainability of its clients’ renewable generation projects.
