Learn how Suncast, selected for the ProChile Business Mission at COP28, pushes renewable energy technology to the next level, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence-driven solar efficiency. The company recently achieved outstanding results in Brazil, which it seeks to publicize at the international level.
The 28th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30 to December 12, is a new international meeting to lay the foundations for the global energy transition.
The Conference seeks to increase renewable energy generation by threefold and double energy efficiency by 2030, this global energy agreement is being driven by the European Union, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, who are in the midst of gathering more countries to join the energy vote needed to meet the Paris Agreement, that states that: "CO2 emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030."
Constanza Levicán, CEO and founder of Suncast, Chilean technology company that applies Artificial Intelligence to variable renewable energies (VRE) with forecasting models for solar and wind power plants, attended the global conference for the third consecutive year, with the objective of taking stock of the current status of the commitments adopted in past conferences, and, also, to put technology on the map as an indispensable tool to achieve the tripling of renewable energies.
"Inaction and delay in adapting technologies to accelerate the energy transition and sustainability have direct economic costs both for the country and the world,"
said Constanza Levicán, who also made a call to incorporate more of Latin America as a promoter agent in the transition to renewable energies, as highlighted in the recent report Latin America Energy Outlook 2023 of the International Energy Agency (IEA), which highlights that "Latin America will play an essential role in the transition to a more secure and sustainable global energy system".
"Latin America and the Caribbean's wealth of resources as well as its experience in the development of high-quality renewable energies can make an important contribution to global energy security and clean energy transitions," is part of the IEA document's review.
Suncast at COP28: Global discussion and export development
Suncast was selected to take part in the Trade Mission ProChile COP28. In this context, María Pilar Jiménez, head of the sustainability and development department of ProChile's Inclusive Exports, explained that: "Suncast will be participating in this activity that will add relevant experience to its export development, through increased knowledge of its industry and relevant contacts."
Suncast's representative, who has previously participated in important international events such as: xpo Dubai 2020, APEC 2022 Summit and COP27 in Egypt, will bring their portfolio of innovative solutions that revolutionize solar efficiency using AI, which has also demonstrated its export potential.
"The results obtained in the Atlas Renewable Energy plant called Sao Pedro, in Brazil, indicate that the use of its technology could contribute to an increase in energy generation of 1000 MWh annually while keeping the same number of cleaning panels", according to the latest test carried out by the company.
Suncast also had the privilege of being selected as one of the top 100 startups for the Climate Tech Startup Accelerator program, which is focused on startups in emerging markets in the Global South.
Suncast's CEO was invited by international organizations such as the Third Vice-Presidency of the Government and Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge of Spain, the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), to contribute to the global discussion that seeks to give importance to energy transition issues in the Spanish Government Pavilion and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Pavilion, both located in the Blue Zone. "We are seeking to share valuable ideas and contribute to the dialogue on innovation at COP28," said Constanza Levicán.
On the other hand, Constanza Levicán will participate live in the Global South Climate Tech podcast, which will be broadcasted on December 6. To close, on the 7th of December, Levicán will be part of the business visit to Abu Dhabi, an instance organized by New Energy Nexus to meet the leading accelerators, while meeting with potential customers in order to showcase its portfolio of solutions.
